We combine discussion, hands-on samples and games to cover the following topics as outlined in the Webelos Scout Book and the Junior Girl Scouts Badge Book:
  • Collect mineral and rock specimens that have important uses.
  • Learn about igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.
  • Examine natural earth processes including mountain formations, earthquakes and erosion.
  • Discover what fossils are, how they form, and how they are used to age a formation.
  • Understand Mohs' hardness scale and apply it to objects found in your home.
  • Explore the variety of geology-based careers and their impact on our everyday lives.
Program Details

Length: 2 hours
Fee: $19.00 per scout, materials included
(flat rate of $152.00 for groups of 7 or less)

• Follow-up materials for this program are provided to the scout leaders.
• Certificate of Participation from The Dinosaur Place given to each scout completing the program.
Scout Group Guidlines
  • Non-refundable deposit of $50 required to reserve a date and time. Balance due at the time of your visit.
  • Minimum scout group size is 8. We encourage small groups to join together. We reserve the right to co-book small groups.
  • Leaders and chaperones are free unless participating in a hands-on activity.
  • Proof of tax exemption is required for all scout group purchases.
